DOWNLOAD

My vision was to have a downloading section for Ramones fans to download live concert recordings directly from my website.  Unfortunately the files are too large for my site to handle. Therefore I will be involving a third party torrent website. There are certain requirements and steps you must follow in order to download the files. 

STEPS:

STEP #01 - You will need to download a software (cllient) called BitTorrent. BitTorrent is a peer-to-peer (P2P) file distribution tool.  You can download this free software at: http://www.bittorrent.com/download

STEP #02 - Most files files are in in flac format. FLAC stands for Free Lossless Audio Codec. FLAC is a popular audio compression codec that is lossless. Unlike lossy codecs such as MP3 and AAC, it does not remove any information from the audio stream and is suitable both for everyday playback and for archiving audio collections. The FLAC format is currently well supported by many software and hardware audio products.  If you would like to listen to the files on a cd you will need to convert to a wav file.  There are several free flac converter softwares you can donwload. STEP #03 - Create a folder on your hard drive to download the files to. 

STEP #04 - You will need to create a FREE account at DIMEADOZEN by visiting http://www.dimeadozen.org/ . This is the third party torrent website that I was speaking about.  This is the largest and most popular torrent site with downloads from so many artists.  It is a MP3 FREE website. 

STEP #05 - Read the rules on DIMEADOZEN, they are very strict on what files can be uploaded and your sharing ratio.  You don't have to upload your own files, you just have to share what you download.  Read the rules & FAQ here: http://wiki.dimeadozen.org/index.php/DimeFAQ:Frequently_Asked_Questions . STEP #06 - I call this the "RESPECT STEP/RULES". Once you have successfully downloaded a file (entire recording), please respect the file format and distribution method. 

RULE #01 - Do NOT Sell...Only Trade These Bitches!

RULE #02 - Do NOT convert to any MP3 or other crappy lossy formats.

RULE #03 - Do NOT post the files on any messageboard or your website. A few members on the Ramones messageboard are downloading from DIMEADOZEN and posting as mp3 files. It is great to share files, but to share them as MP3's is a crime.  Once the file is converted and shared as a MP3, the integrity files is destroyed. Also, this is my project and I don't want others taking my credit.

Violation of any of the above, will result in me pulling the plug on this project. Therefore let's keep this fun and 1-2-3-4! If you don't approve of my rules, then don't download these files and don't complain. I understand that I CAN'T control what people do with the recordings, but I CAN control this project!!!

Now that you have the information to get you started and you AGREE with the rules, below is what is in store for you...... 

August 11, 2007: During the next 20 weeks I will be uploading one Ramones concert from each year starting from 1976. I will continue to upload each Saturday until I reach their final year of 1996. If this is a hit, then perhaps I can upload more frequently. I am only uploading Ramones audio recordings, I will not upload any solo performances or DVD recordings.  Yes...the Ramones did start in 1974, but there are not that many recordings from the first two years.

Most Ramones recordings out there are one or two tracks. I have no idea why this is the case. I have re-mastered most of my recordings to correct any problems, normalize levels, fade in/out etc. I have transferred over 200 recordings directly from analog tapes. Most of the Ramones recordings do not have exact details on generations.
