I never house my records inside the picture cover. This will insure that the record never creates a split in the cover's spine or corners. The top three pictures below show the special materials that I use to protect all my records. I have the same materials for my singles and EPA's.

This is a special 12" record thick plastic cover. It is oversized allows for no bumping of the corners.
This thick special cardboard is placed between the cover and record. The record is never housed inside the picture cover.
This thick paper sleeve is used for the record.
